Flash Poetry: “Ammunition”

I am afraid
that when the time comes
I will not have enough ammunition
to protect her
even though
ammo is cheap.
If words could be locked and loaded
every woman could
raze the world
a hailstorm of bullets
made up of “good intentions”
cat-calls,
and “sluts.”
When persisting
and resisting
are frowned upon
what else can
you do
but defend?

If you enjoy my poetry, my first chapbook Wayward: Poetry for Monsters, Muses, and Other Deviants is currently only .99 cents– but hurry! The price will go up to $1.99 after a few days, before returning to $2.99.
