Last night, I validated my very first Camp NaNoWriMo project- King of Diamonds is a WINNER! Woo!
I was honestly concerned that I wouldn’t be able to knock the project out in a month– there was a lot of bricklaying left to do. But on April 18th, at almost midnight, I typed the last words of the story!
I wrote 7,750 words in one day.
That is the equivalent of seeing a Narwhal riding a Unicorn, both of them wearing stylish shades and skateboarding down the street. Single board. And managing an Ollie.
Ahhhh. Now I did have to adjust my goal down; originally, I guessed that KING would have 30,000 words to go, when my last count came to 28,577. I’m not one for random word-stuffing, so I was fine with such a small adjustment.
Besides, I still have to edit, and who the hell knows where that will go.
Still, I can’t believe that the journey of Hazel Leigh Mac Tire, Gideon, and Jack is over. It was a bittersweet night.
ALSO, THEY OFFER A CUSTOM SCARF WITH YOUR NOVEL PRINTED ON IT FOR THE WINNERS. I NEED ONE. OR FIVE. YOU KNOW, MODERATION.
In other news, we’re just over a week out from Bookstock 2017!
I’ll be driving into the city for this, and I’ll be there all day! It’s my first author event, and I’m super pumped. Come by and see me!
Pssssst. I hear that maybe this particular author will be giving away copies of books for the event. Just saying. A little birdy told me. That birdy was me.
So keep an eye out for a giveaway next week!
What have you guys been up to? Did you NaNoWriMo this month? Let’s see those winners!
