Snow Island: Chronicles of a Wererabbit

You guys may remember back a bit, where I interviewed M.Y. Zeman and discussed her books in the Chronicles of a Wererabbit series. Well today, I want to talk to you guys about the third book in the series, Snow Island!

Here’s the official blurb:

A mysterious island with a dark secret…
Vampires, werewolves, unicorns, pterodactyls, and other creatures from myth or brought back from extinction
A deadly monorail with an insanely cheery Artificial Intelligence tour guide that really doesn’t like anyone who does not have a ticket…
A vampire queen with an evil plan
A fortune teller’s frighteningly accurate prediction of death
And Snow the only rabbit shifter in the world, is about to face it all…

Set in the modern world where vampires and werewolves live side by side among humans, Chronicles of a Wererabbit is set to be a seven book YA Science Fiction/Fantasy series about a girl rabbit shifter and her journey to become a hero. Each book is another step on that journey. There is also an overarching story involving her father’s evil vampire sister that spans the series.

The first two Snowball and Snow Bunny were published last year to great reviews. Snowball reached number one in the “Coming of age” category on Amazon on its debut.

Snow Island begins five months later with Snow, now 15, receiving an ominous prediction from a fortune teller. She travels to a mysterious island with Josh, her dads, her friend David (a werewolf who can’t shift) and Charlene (a mouse) to find out what happened to the creatures and werewolves that have been disappearing.

Theme: Snow is looking outside of herself wondering about the big questions like does fate exist? Is destiny set or something that can be changed?

And here’s the book trailer:

Sounds great, right?! I’m still in the midst of the book, so I won’t list any spoilers, but just like the first two, I’m really enjoying the writing. Zeman’s writing is emotive, crisp and clear. The characters in the Chronicles of a Wererabbit are well-developed and diverse, and Snow Island is no different. Zeman writes with a careful and critical eye, always ensuring that the message behind the action is clear, yet subtle enough to avoid that “bashing you on the head” feeling.

And on that note, I love the fact that each title in the series has a message, whether it be acceptance, the importance of eco-diversity, or learning to trust yourself in the most desperate situations. The works are thought-provoking and enjoyable, which is a balance that many might not achieve.

Snow Island comes out on April 14th, 2017! Zeman created a Kickstarter to help fund the guts of the project, and the notes for the campaign are so important to what’s happening not only in Snow’s world, but also in ours– check them out here. The campaign has ended with double its original goal! Congratulations are in order!

If you’d like to keep up with all of M.Y. Zeman’s works, head on over to the Official website for the series! And though not all of the order links are live quite yet, you can still check the book out over on Smashwords.

See you on Snow Island!
